As of October 1, 2018, Standard, Enhanced, and REAL ID are available to Minnesota residents.
There is no rush to get a REAL ID compliant card. REAL ID is not required for air travel or entering Federal facilities until October 2020. For Federal facilities, please check ahead of time if additional identification will be required.
The driver's license office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but you need to arrive by 4:15 p.m.

- In order to apply for a REAL ID compliant driver's license or identification card, you'll need to provide documents that meet certain requirements.

- Only Minnesota residents who are also United States citizens and at least 16 years of age may apply for an Enhanced Driver's License or Enhanced Identification card.
- Enhanced Driver's Licenses and Identification Cards applications are available at the Lyon County Auditor/Treasurer's office by appointment only. Appointments are scheduled for 45 minutes and are available Wednesday to Friday from 9:00am to 11:15am and 2:15pm to 3:45pm.
