Human Resources

 

Human Resources administers the personnel policies and procedures adopted by the Lyon County Board as well as classification and compensation plans, performance planning and review programs, and maintaining personnel records for each employee. Human Resources coordinates the recruitment, selection, orientation, development, transfer, and separation of employees. Affirmative action, Civil Rights, Minnesota and Federal Family and Medical Leave Act, long-term disability, HIPAA and ADA compliance are also major functions of the office.  The office coordinates and administers employee benefit programs for all departments, and works closely with Lyon County Administration and the County Board. In addition, Human Resources  supports all Lyon County divisions and departments in the areas of:

Lyon County Environmental Technician Education Coordinator

Lyon County Environmental Technician Education Coordinator

Lyon County is requesting applications for an Environmental Tech Education Coordinator. The purpose of this position is to maintain necessary records, statistical data, and other information regarding the County Landfill, Recycling, and Household Hazardous Waste departments. This position will also develop, coordinate, present and implement programs that educate the public about recycling, composting, and other methods of solid waste disposal, and in general to help decrease the amount of solid waste that goes to our landfill through alternative disposal methods. Educational requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources Management, Environmental Studies, or related field. Also a Minor or college coursework in Communications, Marketing, Public Speaking, or Instruction or related field; and classroom and public presentation experience is highly desired. Lyon County 911 Dispatcher

Lyon County 911 Dispatcher
Lyon County is accepting applications for 911 Dispatcher. The purpose of this position is to answer emergency and non-emergency calls for police, ambulance, and fire and CAT services. This position is also responsible for performing additional tasks as assigned by the Sheriff.  Minimum Qualifications Include: High school diploma required.  Individual must have strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure and strong technical/computer skills. The starting hourly rate of pay will be based on experience. Lyon County Seasonal Building & Grounds Worker
Lyon County is hiring a seasonal Building & Grounds Worker from approximately mid-April to October.  This position is to provide general maintenance at Garvin Park; mowing, light equipment maintenance, and performing additional tasks as assigned. Applicants must possess a high school diploma, or GED, and the ideal candidate would live near Garvin Park. Lyon County Technical Assistant II

Lyon County Technical Assistant II
Lyon County is requesting applications for a Technical Assistant II to provide administrative support and customer service at the Lyon County Landfill. Duties include landfill accounts payables and receivables, as well as front office customer support for area haulers. Minimum qualifications: Associate’s degree or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of two years in a customer service field or in an accounting support function; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. This position may be expected to participate in a weekend (Saturday only) rotation.  Starting pay is at least $16.66/hr. DOE, with excellent full time benefits.
