Human Resources

 

Human Resources administers the personnel policies and procedures adopted by the Lyon County Board as well as classification and compensation plans, performance planning and review programs, and maintaining personnel records for each employee. Human Resources coordinates the recruitment, selection, orientation, development, transfer, and separation of employees. Affirmative action, Civil Rights, Minnesota and Federal Family and Medical Leave Act, long-term disability, HIPAA and ADA compliance are also major functions of the office.  The office coordinates and administers employee benefit programs for all departments, and works closely with Lyon County Administration and the County Board. In addition, Human Resources  supports all Lyon County divisions and departments in the areas of:

  • Employee Relations
  • Leads County wellness initiatives
  • Labor Relations
  • Employee Health & Safety 
  • Risk Management/Workers Comp
  • Employee Recognition Awards
  • Grievance and Disciplinary Action

IT Technician

Lyon County is accepting applications for the position of IT Technician. This position assists in all communications and technology information functions in Lyon County, such as the diagnosing, repairs, upgrades, or replacing of hardware and software. The IT Technician’s primary responsibilities include help desk support and assisting with PC setups and installations. Work is performed under the supervision of the IT Director. Qualifications are: Associates/Technical degree with coursework in Information Technology, or related field. Six months’ experience working in a help desk environment; proficiency in computer hardware support and Microsoft office products, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Lyon County Emergency Management Coordinator

Lyon County is accepting applications for the full-time Emergency Manager. The Emergency Management Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and directing the county’s emergency management program in compliance with federal and state guidelines, and to ensure emergency preparedness in Lyon County as listed below. The Emergency Management Director may be required to assist the Sheriff in other divisions as the Sheriff deems necessary. Qualifications are: Bachelor’s degree in emergency management or related field and two (2) years’ experience in emergency management, emergency preparedness, planning, business or public administration; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position. Correctional Officer

Lyon County is accepting applications for the position of full-time Correctional Officer; females are encouraged to apply.  Minimum Qualifications Include: high school diploma and valid driver’s license. The current range of hourly pay is $18.43-$25.79, with two pay increases in the first year of employment, and full county benefits.
