Human Resources

 

Human Resources administers the personnel policies and procedures adopted by the Lyon County Board as well as classification and compensation plans, performance planning and review programs, and maintaining personnel records for each employee. Human Resources coordinates the recruitment, selection, orientation, development, transfer, and separation of employees. Affirmative action, Civil Rights, Minnesota and Federal Family and Medical Leave Act, long-term disability, HIPAA and ADA compliance are also major functions of the office.  The office coordinates and administers employee benefit programs for all departments, and works closely with Lyon County Administration and the County Board. In addition, Human Resources  supports all Lyon County divisions and departments in the areas of:

  • Leads County wellness initiatives
  • Labor Relations
  • Employee Health & Safety 
  • Risk Management/Workers Comp
  • Employee Recognition Awards
  • Grievance and Disciplinary Action

Park Seasonal Position

Lyon County is accepting applications for a Park Seasonal worker, approximately 30-40 hours per week for the following. Approximate start date of May 6, 2019 through August 23, 2019.  Minimum Requirements: 16 years of age with valid MN driver’s license.  Hourly rate of pay is $10.00 or higher DOE.  Application forms are available at the County Administrators Office located at 607 West Main Street in Marshall, MN 56258 or http://www.lyonco.org/employment.   A separate application must be completed for each position.  Submit completed application to County Administration, Attn: Human Resources, at 607 West Main Street, Marshall, MN 56258.  Positions are open until filled.  Lyon County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Lyon County Technical Assistant Recorder

Lyon County is accepting applications for the full-time position of Technical Assistant Recorder at 37.5 hours/week. This position is to assist with the day-to-day activities of the Recorder Department and Registrar of Titles. Duties include serving as custodian of official records; recording real estate documents, UCC’s and Vital Statistics documents and certifying to public records. Successful candidate will enjoy detailed work and legal document researching in an office setting.   Minimum qualifications: a one to two-year associate type degree with experience in the legal administration or real estate field; a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years’ experience in a related field is preferred. This position is hourly with pay range: $17.08 -$23.88 with full county benefits. Full position description can be downloaded at www.lyonco.org. Part Time Custodian

Lyon County is hiring a part time, 20 hours per week, custodian.  Position purpose is to provide general custodial services to County buildings; vacuuming, dusting, washing windows, locking and unlocking doors and performing additional tasks as assigned. Hours will be weekdays 5:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma, or GED.  Starting hourly rate is $15.65.  A county application form is required and may be picked up at the Lyon Administrator’s Office at: 607 West Main Street, Marshall, MN 56258. Or, visit the Lyon County website at www.co.lyon.mn.us to retrieve an application and job description. Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of a county application.
